The Next Big Thing Blog Hop

My friend, Gryffyn Phoenix, asked me to follow her in The Next Big Thing Blog Hop and I can’t think of a better way to get things rolling on my own blog, so here we go.

Q: What is the working title of your book?

A: Tales from Blood Moon Harbor

Q: Where did the idea come from for the book?

A: In the late nineties I wrote a series of middle grade books called Scary Stories for SleepOvers published by Price Stern Sloan. They were short story collections and they became extremely popular…several million copies sold. I loved writing them but after six books I went a different direction. Those shivery short story ideas still float around in my brain so I decided it was time to let them surface once again.

Q: What genre does your book fall under?

A: Middle grade horror.

Q: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

A: Total unknowns…or perhaps reincarnations of 11-year-old Patty McCormack and 8-year-old Billy Mumy

Q: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

A: Nothing…no place…no one is safe.

Q: Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

A: I’m testing the self-publishing waters this time.

Q: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

A: I am doing the books with co-author, Francesca Rusackas. We’re each contributing tales that are about ten to fifteen pages. It takes about a week to complete each one.

Q: Who or What inspired you to write this book?

A: Rod Serling and Ray Bradbury. They inspired my love of short stories. Tamara Thorne convinced me to face my fear of ebooks and now the first volume of three creepy tales is online.

Q: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

A: The stories are perfect for reading right before bed, of course, under the covers with a flashlight.

Pick up a copy of Tales from Blood Moon Harbor wherever your ereader’s books are sold.  Next Tuesday, look for a blog post from Francesca Rusackas.
